Guides that get to the point

  • SSC photo and signature size

For SSC online forms the photo must be a JPG of 20–50 KB and the signature a JPG of 10–20 KB. Use a recent colour photo on a plain background, and sign in black or blue ink.

  • How to reduce photo size for UPSC

UPSC accepts photo and signature files as JPGs between 20 KB and 300 KB. Open MediaShift’s UPSC tool, drop your photo, and save the compressed JPG; it stays inside the limit with the best quality that fits.

  • How to compress an image to 50 KB on mobile

On Android or iPhone, open mediashift.app/compress-image-to-50kb in your browser, tap to choose a photo, and save the result. You get a JPG under 50 KB without installing an app or uploading the photo.

  • Online converters: upload vs in-browser

Most online converters upload your file to their servers, convert it there and send it back. In-browser converters such as MediaShift do the conversion on your own device, so the file is never uploaded, there is no queue, and private files stay private.
